Latest news and next trips

I’m delighted to report that this blog has won the 2019 Cruising Association’s Lacey Trophy, for the best member’s website or blog covering cruising in the year.  I was due to collect my prize in London on 25th March but like everything else the event has been postponed.  Thank you to all my crew who have helped me contribute to the blog over recent months.

Plans for 2020 are firm, but obviously subject to the pandemic. I aim to sail Spellbinder locally, and if the events take place race in the Army and Services Offshore regattas in May and June. I then plan to head to the West Country and Scilly in early July.  Thereafter a passage to Cork is planned and she will be spending July and August exploring the south and south west coasts of Ireland, to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Cork Yacht Club. A return to home waters is planned later in August, although given this last winter’s awful weather I’m quite tempted to head for Portugal to over winter…
